Unarumee Gaanam

This is a song by Ilayaraja in which he has done what he does best - melting our souls.
I think Sreekumaran Thampi felt that effect. That is why probably he chose the words 'urugum en ullam'...

This song was rendered by the great singer G. Venugopal who is known for his captivating voice. Though he had a short span in the industry, his songs are still lingering in the hearts of his fans.

Pinneyum Pinneyum

When I think of malayalam songs that I like, the first one which strikes my mind is this one. This is from Vidyasagar who has given so many beautiful melodies both in Tamil and Malayalam.

This is the favourite song for my wife too! So, for my wife...

Mandram Vantha Thendralukku

This is one of my favourites and I've got a memorable experience too with this one.

This was my debut song in my college. Everything is still fresh in my mind. It was the inter-departmental culturals Ovations '96 and it takes place in 'Bertram Hall' where the entire college will be gathered. I sang the initial humming, the guy on the guitar played his piece and I just sang the first line... the power went off!!

Then after a few minutes power was back and I rendered this song. I still remember Dr. Martin coming up to me and shaking hands saying "you sang really well".. I felt so honoured since he himself was a great singer.

Raja Raja Chozhan

This is an evergreen song by Ilayaraja and sung by Yesudas.

My first performance on stage was this song. The school that I went to conducts singing competition every children's day. I was in my 7th standard and I was delighted to have been selected in the prelims. Every evening once I come home from school I used to listen to this song in preparation for the finals(Thanks to my aunt in US who gifted us a tape recorder and to my brother who recorded this song!).

It was Nov 14, 1989. I went up on stage, reached out to the mic and said "K C James 7th B"(Thats the routine for all participants). Then I started to sing the song. The entire school became silent once I started singing. Getting such a response felt awesome to me... Before the results were announced some of my friends who got a chance to take a peek in to the judges' scorecards came and told me that I've won a prize. Its nice to recall those treasured moments.

Please listen to it and drop in your comments.
